Hello.
I’m Ruth Rau and I’m a designer.
I work across print and digital media for a range of organizations, from small groups to large companies. I am based in Chicago.
I’m a midwesterner. I studied graphic design and art history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, then earned an MA(RCA) in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art in London (a joint course with the Victoria & Albert Museum). I taught as a full-time Lecturer in the School of Theoretical and Historical Studies at the University of Central England at Birmingham, and although I enjoyed teaching, I missed designing. So, I took a design position at a small London studio that specialized in marketing for arts clients and fell back in love with making things and solving problems with type and image.
I have worked with amazing clients as an independent graphic designer since moving to Chicago in 2001.
